Radio in 2012 :

With the advancement of satellite radio, there is a good chance that radio will still be going strong in the year 2012. For many years, radio was just used for music and news purposes. These days, it is used to recap television shows, give weather and road conditions, and is a source of entertainment for those on their daily commute to work. Radio will always be used in cars because people need something to keep them entertained while driving. For a while radio was losing popularity because people were just listening to music from CD’s and other devices. But satellite radio has brought them a whole new menu of shows, music, and other things that are meant to entertain while driving.

Radio will probably not change that much in the future. More channels may be offered with more programming, but otherwise, the format will stay the same. People enjoy listening to the radio when driving or when waiting in traffic. They do not want to sit in silence while they drive. Having background noise can entertain everyone in the car. For many, this is one of the best reasons to drive anywhere. Radio provides information and news that people might not hear about. Most people read newspapers, but before reading the paper in the morning, people may want to know what is going on. The radio can provide this and more. During emergency situations, the radio can help people escape or find shelter. This can save lives and help those who have been in a storm cope with the aftermath.
